Spirited Away

Chihiro Ogino, a 10-year-old girl, is moving with her parents to a new town when they become lost and find what her father thinks is an abandoned theme park. Chihiro's father insists on exploring it, and she and her mother reluctantly accompany him. Chihiro's parents eat a great deal of delicious-seeming food at an unattended stall. After Chihiro wanders off and finds a grand bathhouse, a boy approaches and warns her she must leave before nightfall. When Chihiro runs back to her parents, they have been transformed into pigs, and as the sun sets, the whole area swarms with spirits. Chihiro eventually learns from Haku, the helpful boy she met, that she and her parents have become trapped in the spirit world. He also reveals that he has known her since she was a small child. Haku brings Chihiro to the bathhouse, and she meets Kamaji, a six-armed yōkai in charge of the boiler room. She asks for a job, which is the only way she can stay there legitimately. Kamaji entrusts Chihiro to Lin, a bathhouse worker who takes her to see Yubaba, the witch in charge. Chihiro is given a job but her name is changed to Sen, the first character of Chihiro's name. Haku warns Chihiro that Yubaba controls her servants by taking their names; if Chihiro forgets her real name, she will be trapped in the spirit world forever.
